Using mustangs is how we convey to the world how over several millennia mankind has not only been dependent upon horses but has come to embraced the horse-human connection.
The point is, we bring along a mustang representative so you can have personal contact with an icon of the American West. Having an up close and physical experience with a once wild horse makes for memories that are hard to ignore. Stroking your fingertips down a mustang’s velvety cheek tends to tickle one’s soul and prompt the question, “Where did he come from?”
This is the beginning of curiosity.
Then questions leads to answers, that builds a greater appreciation and understanding about the history of horses in our culture, the plight of America’s Wild Ones, and the opportunities for keeping them free, or at least offering a better life than incarceration.
Handsome Harry, a three-year-old gelding, came to us at ten months of age and following successful gentling, he attended his first public event just around his first birthday. Since then, he has had thousands of kids, and nearly as many adults, pet and stroke his neck during parades, community celebrations, and educational events.
Through these public events, Heart Soul Horses Helping Humans shares their knowledge regarding the dynamics of herd relationships, the nature of how horses communicate, how they lead, and even how their natural range has been impacted by urban sprawl.
Even the little ones want to understand.
Through future funding, our objective is to have increased public exposure, such as school education opportunities throughout the Western States. Increasing our youth’s awareness regarding America’s Wild Mustangs vital contribution to our history, our culture and the future opportunities these horses can bring to humanity is our vision.
